Fortune magazine is out with its annual Fortune 500 list of America's 500 largest companies, as measured by annual revenue.
This year, two Austin-area companies are ranked in the Fortune 500, and the names probably won’t surprise anybody: Round Rock-based Dell Technologies ranks No. 41 on the list with $64.8 billion in annual revenue, while Austin-based Whole Foods Market comes in at No. 176 with 15.7 billion in annual revenue.
There are 50 Texas-based companies on the list, topped by Irving-based Exxon Mobil, which is No.4 in the nation with $205 billion in annual revenue. Dallas-based AT&T ranks No. 9 in the nation with $163.7 in annual revenue.
Wal-Mart ranks No.1 nationally with $485.8 in revenue, followed by Berkshire Hathaway ($223.6 billion) and Apple ($215.6 billion).
The combined total revenue of all 500 companies on the list is $12.1 trillion.
