Need another example of SXSW’s cutting edge program? Look no further than two robots making their debut during the Interactive festival.
Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro and Dr. Ryuichiro Higashinaka unveiled the androids during the Japan Factory event Monday.
“Let’s start discussion over Lady Gaga versus Taylor Swift,” says Repliee S1, an “exo-naked” interactive robot.
Its fellow robot attendee U, a Japanese idol-style android, replies that Taylor Swift “knows how to dress perfectly.”
Who would’ve thought robots had an interest in pop culture? But it turns out, they’re just like us fleshy people.
“There is not a substantial difference between human beings and robots. Do you agree?” asks one of the bots, to which the other replies, “Yes, I do.”
