If you've been seeing a lot of impressive images on social media lately that look like they were crafted by a brilliant digital artist, it might be the work of artificial intelligence from an app called Prisma.
The Russian-based app allows iOS and Android users to take their photos and run them through a filter to make them look like digital artwork inspired by Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and others. The app uses neural networking artificial intelligence over its servers to create the effects, but recently also introduced an offline mode that might prove faster for some users.
The app already has 55 million users and appears to be spreading fast.
