Samsung unveiled its newest Galaxy S phone this weekend
The phone’s improvements focus on new visual features that include enhanced cameras, an artificial intelligence tool and features for social media such as an option to turn selfies into emojis.
After Samsung’s slowdown last year (only 1 percent growth in sales), the tech giant is hoping the newest edition of its flagship phone will attract more customers. Samsung will start selling the phone on March 16.
Will the sale of Qualcomm to Broadcom finally happen soon?
Executives from Qualcomm said the two sides are closer after agreeing recently on regulatory and other operational issues. Now, the two chipmakers have to agree on a price.
Broadcom’s latest offer to Qualcomm was about $117 billion, down from more than $121 billion. The price went down after Qualcomm upped its price to purchase chipmaker NXP Semiconductors, which has a significant presence in Austin. Still, a deal between Broadcom and Qualcomm is expected to be the biggest ever in tech.
Airline companies are working together to make in-flight internet better
Airbus, Delta, OneWeb, Sprint, and Indian airline Bharti Airtel have joined to create the “Seamless Air Alliance,” a partnership to make in-flight internet access better.
In-flight internet access, while improving, can often be costly and slow. The airlines say they want to help build fast internet access for flights, and they expect other airlines to join their mission. It’s unclear what the group’s timeline for the project is.
