Google’s high-speed Internet and cable TV Google Fiber service has experienced installation delays at the Mueller master-planned development in Austin, a Google Fiber spokesperson said.
While the company did not provide details about what specifically caused the issue, it said it was “working hard to complete construction in Mueller in the coming months.”
Some Mueller residents have reported that they received notice of Google Fiber’s plans to install the service but have yet to see it happen.
For several years, Google has been installing its fiber-optic cables around Austin.
Google Fiber is currently available or under construction in South Austin neighborhoods that stretch south to Onion Creek, west to Circle C and east to Dove Springs and Montopolis, the company said. It’s just beginning to extend the network to East Austin as far north as Mueller and as far west as Airport Boulevard. The company said its immediate plans are to complete instillation in the Mueller development.
Google Fiber features 1-gigabit Internet service, as well as more than 200 channels of cable TV with a DVR feature for recording shows.
