Dell Inc. has come a long way since those "Dude, you're getting a Dell!" commercials.
The Round Rock-based computer maker is airing three new commercials this week that seek to highlight the range of applications for the company's data storage and cloud technology.
As reported in Advertising Age, the Dell "Future Ready" spots are a continuation of a campaign launched last year. The three new commercials use episodic storytelling to showcase how Dell's products and services impact people and businesses. The commercials were created by Y&R New York, Advertising Age reports.
The new "Future Ready" commercials are a stark contrast to the early-2000s "Dude You're Getting a Dell!" spots, which focused on what was then the core of Dell's business: desktop and laptop computers.
A lot has changed in the last 15 years, and now Dell wants to tell a different story: how its servers, networking and cloud technology help people in their day-to-day lives.
The first commercial shows a doctor traveling on an airplane, checking in to a hotel and then performing a heart transplant. All along the way, he interacts with Dell technology.
