Texans who've been waiting for the bright yellow box selling Spectacles glasses from Snap Inc. finally got some good news on Wednesday: it's at Torchy's Tacos at the South Austin Trailer Park & Eatery on South First.
The devices, which come in black, coral and teal, are basically a $130 pair of glasses that can record 10-second video snippets and upload them to a user's Snapchat account. Think of them as Google Glass without the social stigma and a lot goofier.
The Spectacles vending machines have been traveling the country, slowly rolling out the devices.
Important update, 2:48 p.m.: according to a source in line (my brother), they sold out after about half an hour. Sorry, Austin.
Were some Austinites happy about it? Well, yeah:
Were some out of town disappointed? Yes.
Because it's Austin, a line formed quickly.
Want to know if they're worth $130? Check out this review from The Verge. Now, if you'll excuse me, I really need to go stand in line for some... uh... tacos. Yeah, tacos.
