If you’ve been near West 5th Street and Congress Avenue in downtown Austin this week, you might have noticed a new piece of street art sporting a Snapchat code and a strange creature.
The creature is Atriox from the “Halo” universe. The mural is there to promote the upcoming game “Halo Wars 2” for Xbox One. The art recreates one poster from a six-poster series called the “Original Art Collection” for the game with work from Grzegorz “Gabs” Domaradzki, Craig Drake and Austin’s own Kevin Tong.
Tong created this particular image for the poster series of Atriox, and it was recreated in spray paint by local graffiti artists BLVD and MOUF.
Here’s another look at the image as it was in progress.
You can hear Tong discuss his company Info-Rama and his artwork, a lot of which has been part of Mondo’s poster series, on the “Statesman Shots” podcast.
