Tech journalist Kara Swisher, who has a reputation in the industry for her sharp mind, tough interviews and deep pool of sources, will this year be inducted into the South by Southwest Interactive Hall of Fame. Swisher, formerly of The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post, is the co-founder and executive editor of Recode as well as a co-host of the “Recode Decode” podcast and co-executive producer of the site’s Code Conference series.
Swisher is also the author of the books “aol.com: How Steve Case Beat Bill Gates, Nailed the Netheads and Made Millions in the War for the Web” and “There Must Be a Pony in Here Somewhere: The AOL Time Warner Debacle and the Quest for a Digital Future.”
She joins past inductees Baratunde Thurston, Tamara Hudgins, Joi Ito, danah boyd and Jeffrey Zeldman. The conference says a ceremony will take place Tuesday, March 14 as part of the Interactive innovation Awards.
SXSW is currently in heavy announcements mode with SXSW Accelerator finalists, David Carr Prize and other news coming in the next few weeks.
