Happy Thursday, fair city!
Here's what's being discussed on the web of tech today:
Apple Pay coming to web browsers
Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Apple is expected to bring Apple Pay mobile payments to mobile web sites, allowing iPad and iPhone users with Touch ID to pay with the Safari browser. That puts it in direct competition with Paypal, reports Re/code. Today's also the day Apple's new iPhone SE and iPad Pro 10" go on preorder.
But what of Meerkat?
Despite competition from Facebook Live and Twitter's Periscope, Google seems poised to get into live streaming, not through Hangouts or YouTube itself but with a new app called Connect (which would likely upload to YouTube accounts). Gizmodo has the rumored details.
Guess what: more danger ahead for Yahoo
Starboard Value LP, a Yahoo investor that owns about 1.7 percent of the company, wants to remove the entire board, reports Reuters this morning.
VR porn got here fast (no surprise)
Fresh off of last week's SXSW VR/AR track panel on the topic, Pornhub, in partnership with BaDoink VR (not making that up) has launched a channel dedicated to virtual-reality and 360-degree adult content. The Next Web has the details. The article is safe for work, but the channel is definitely not, so proceed with caution.
