Jony Ive is again leading Apple’s design operations
The Apple executive had left the chief design role for some time as he helped Apple open its new headquarter campus in Cupertino, Calif.
With the campus now open, Ive is back leading a team he has played a big role in for decades. Ive is credited with leading the design of some of Apple’s most popular products throughout the years, such as the first iMac computer in 1998 and first iPad in 2010.
Ever wonder how Amazon picks its deals of the day for big shopping events?
It appears to have a lot to do with price slashing. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, online merchants that use Amazon as their marketplace have to slash prices by at least 15 percent to be considered as a deal of the day pick when Amazon promotes items on big shopping days such as Cyber Monday.
But the sacrifice for merchants can be well worth it. Items picked by Amazon for its deals of the day often see a large uptick in purchases, according to some of the independent merchants, who reportedly make up about 70 percent of sales on Amazon.
Predicting stock market success for tech companies in 2018
Barron’s news, owned by Dow Jones & Company, wrote about the stock market outlook for 2018, including what experts believe is in store for large tech corporations such as Facebook, Google and Amazon.
Tech giants saw much success this year and boosted tech stocks, with few signs of slowing down. At the same time, both Google and Facebook faced congressional investigations regarding the companies’ roles in abetting Russian involvement during the 2016 presidential election. Amazon has also faced scrutiny regarding its perceived monopoly of the retail industry.
As a result, one caution Barron’s pointed out is investors’ worry that large tech firms could see increased government regulation next year, affecting stock prices. Barron’s full report can be read here.
