New video games out this week:
“Final Fantasy XV.” Once known as “Final Fantasy Versus XIII,” this action-oriented take on the franchise involves a road trip, an unexpected invasion, a crown prince named Noctis, and a big open world to explore with three companions. Rated T for Teen. $60-$90 in Standard and Deluxe editions for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
“Super Mario Maker” (out Friday) The Nintendo Wii U version of this game from last year was a delight, but gamers may be wondering if some compromises could hobble this portable 3DS version, which doesn’t allow users to upload levels they create and doesn’t work with all levels created on the Wii U game. It’s also one of the few Nintendo 3DS games with no 3-D mode. Nevertheless, those who want to build “Mario” game levels on the go and share them via StreetPass, may still find a lot to love here.. Rated E for Everyone, $40 for Nintendo 3DS.
Also out this week: “Steep” (Xbox One, PS4, Windows PC), “Aqua Moto Racing Utopia” (PS4), “Steins;Gate 0” (PS4, PlayStation Vita), “Watch Dogs 2” (PC), “Star Trek: Bridge Crew” (PlayStation VR), “The Crew: Ultimate Edition and Callin All Units” (Xbox One, PS4), “The Dwarves” (Xbox One, PS4, PC), “Maize” (PC), “Dawn of Andromeda” (PC), “Beekyr Reloaded” (PC), “Deponia” (PS4), “Shoot the Ball” (Wii U), “King Lucas” (PC), “Hyperlight EX” (3DS), “Stargazer Christmas” (PC), “Minion Masters” (PC), “Space Jammers” (PC), “Path of Exile: Breach” (PC), “Sparkle Unleashed” (PC), “Stern Pinball Arcade” (Xbox One, PS4), “Bullet Sorrow VR” (PC), “VCB: Why City” (PC), “The Voice” (Nintendo Wii, Xbox One), “Second Coming” (PC), “Hyper Light Drifter: Collector’s Edition” (Xbox One, PS4, PC), “Super Ninja Hero VR” (PC), “Shovel Knight” (PS Vita).
