Even while some of us were busy taking extra-long winter vacation naps and cleaning up several tons of wrapping paper off the floor, 512tech and Texas Standard’s radio program rolled along over Christmas and New Year.
Here are two tech-related segments you may have missed over the holidays.
The first is about Facebook’s recent moves to crack down on what it calls “Engagement baiting,” the practice of loading up social media posts, sometimes misleadingly, with information meant to attract likes and shares. Not all of it is fake news, but a lot of it is far from organic content. You can listen to it here:
You can listen to the segment live if you’re in Austin around 10:20 a.m. Thursday mornings on KUT radio. It’s also on other stations throughout the state.
News on Open Source is free and unlimited. Access to the rest of 512tech.com comes with an American-Statesman digital subscription, which also includes myStatesman.com and the ePaper edition. Subscribe at statesman.com/subscribe.
