Austin-based online job search firm Indeed confirmed Friday that it will lease all the space in a new office building at the Domain in North Austin when the 11-story tower opens in 2018.
Indeed is one of Central Texas’ fastest-growing Internet companies and actively recruits local tech talent.
In a written statement to the American-Statesman, Indeed said it has signed a lease for the full Domain Tower. Financial terms of the lease were not released.
The 310,000-square-foot building is due to be completed next summer and Indeed is expected to occupy the space in late 2018.
“This is Indeed’s fourth office location in Austin, allowing the company to accommodate its rapidly expanding team of employees dedicated to helping people get jobs,” the company said.
Indeed was co-founded in Austin and Stamford, Conn., in 2004. The company currently employs more than 5,300 people globally.
Indeed had 1,084 employees in Austin as of early this year. Kristina Jorge, a company spokeswoman, declined to provide an updated headcount Friday. She said the company was not yet ready to discuss its Austin expansion plans.
Domain Tower is being built at the entrance to the Domain, the large mixed-use development off MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) in North Austin.
Domain Tower is being developed by HPI Real Estate Services & Investments and Stonelake Capital Partners. The building is the first office tower at the Domain from a developer other than Austin-based Endeavor Real Estate Group, the original developer of the Domain.
The tower is the first phase of a 31-acre mixed-use development that Stonelake plans at the site. Plans call for 5 million square feet of office, multifamily and retail space over the next decade.
Sam Houston, office division partner with HPI Real Estate Services & Investments, said Indeed’s new lease is Austin’s largest office lease of 2017. Austin-based vacation rental company HomeAway also has agreed to lease Domain 11, a 16-story building under construction at the Domain that will house more than 2,000 HomeAway workers.
“Indeed is a tremendous Austin company that is very likely the fastest-growing company in Austin today,” Houston said. “It is simply amazing to see that two 300,000-square foot leases have been signed in the Domain this year.”
Indeed is one of a growing number of tech companies that are undergoing significant expansion in Austin, with others including HomeAway, Oracle, Google Inc., Facebook and Amazon.
In February, Indeed announced plans to double its workforce in Dublin, Ireland, saying it planned to add 500 jobs over the next two years. The Dublin office, which opened in 2012 and had about 500 employees at that time, serves as the company’s headquarters for operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Indeed aggregates job listings from thousands of websites, including employer career sites, staffing agencies, job boards and company career pages. In addition to searching listings on Indeed’s home page, job hunters can post their résumés for recruiters.
