Three cityview terraces. Gourmet cafeterias that serve complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner. A “speakeasy” secret hangout with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a bar, couches and a piano.
Welcome to Google’s new downtown Austin offices.
The 300,000-square foot space currently holds more than 450 employees. Two additional floors are under construction and are expected to open next year. When completed Google will occupy 10 floors in the glass highrise at 500 W. 2nd St.
The California-based search engine giant designed the offices to encourage innovation and collaboration, with open workspaces and gathering areas, including a large outdoor patio with a movie theater screen on the wall.
Google’s new space consolidates employees from other locations including North Mopac Boulevard (Loop 1) and University Park just north of downtown. Work being done here includes teams across Android, G Suite, Google Plan, operations, finance, engineering and marketing.
