Life is often about not missing the fireworks, but sometimes that’s impossible. And while TV or a friend’s FaceTime might be viable options for secondhand thrills, there’s not much variety; you’re probably be seeing Washington D.C. on PBS or your friend’s vacation spot and nothing else.
EarthCam, a company that offers streams of live webcams, says that it will be celebrating Independence Day Tuesday by showing more than 20 lives streams of fireworks around the country, from the Statue of Liberty to St. Joseph, Michigan, if that’s your jam. While Austin is missing from the list (if you know of a live video stream locally, let me know), Texas is represented by a cam in Southlake.
You can zoom in slightly on these cams and there is sound.
EarthCam says that in addition to the web version, there’s also apps for phones and tablets as well as dedicated apps for Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.
If real-life fireworks are a must, you can check out this list of displays around and near town.
