New video games out this week
“Yooka-Laylee.” Billed as a spiritual successor to the wildly popular “Banjo-Kazooie” and built by former employees of the company that made it, this game is about a chameleon and a bat getting into imaginative scrapes in a 3-D platforming world. Expect gorgeous character designs and big boss fights. A Nintendo Switch version is also reportedly in the works. Rated E-10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. $40 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Mac OS and Linux.
“Stardew Valley Collector’s Edition.” The hit indie game about farming, raising animals and exploring mysterious caves arrives in a boxed retail version for consoles that includes a town map, guidebook and a “Stardew Valley” soundtrack. Rated E-10+, $30, for Xbox One and PS4.
