Austin as an emerging VR technology town continues to be a thing; London-based WPP is investing $4 million in a Series A round of funding for SubVRsive, Inc.
The Austin startup creates virtual-reality experiences (including 360-degree videos) for clients including Showtime Networks, Lionsgate, MTV and Procter & Gamble. It was founded in August, 2015.
The company is also bringing on a new chief executive officer, Johannes Larcher, who formerly worked at Hulu, helping launch some of the streaming company’s international business including Hulu Japan.
The company said it will use its previous investments and this new series funding to continue to build out its team.
The company’s founder, Austin Mace, will take on the role of chief creative officer at the company.
