Tuesday’s news that Fare, one of Austin’s many ride-hailing services, would be leaving the city might not have come as much of a surprise.
The app was one of several services that popped up in Austin after major providers Lyft and Uber left the city after a failed attempt to overturn its mandatory fingerprint requirements for drivers.
Well (as you almost definitely have heard) Uber is back. And Lyft too. While the return of the two ride-hailing giants was welcomed by some and resented by others, it was not great news for the little guys, like Fare, who had surfaced in their absence.
