The SXSW Gaming Awards capped off three days of gaming’s contribution to the famous festival, with a pair of hosts up to the challenge and some of the biggest games of 2016 taking home multiple awards.
Sponsored by IGN and Imaginary Forces, the fourth annual awards show at the Hilton grand ballroom saw “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” win Video Game of the Year, and the hit Blizzard team-based shooter “Overwatch” landing multiple awards, including Trending Game of the Year and Esports Game of the Year.
A packed house and a Twitch.TV with over 2,000 live viewers enjoyed an evening of animated shorts, live music, and the witty banter of WWE Superstar Xavier Woods and Twitch personality OMGitsfirefoxx, the hosts of the event.
Other notable awards include “DOOM” winning the Excellence in Gameplay award, “Pokemon Go” taking Mobile Game of the Year, and “Arkham Horror: The Card Game” earning Tabletop Game of the Year.
